Henry Wonder

I want to share one of my favorite songs – for right now (I try to sing it to Alice, but every time I usually end up in tears). Yep, there is a little country in there, maybe I’m watching too much Nashville.

The way I feel for my little girl is unreal, and Kate Earl sums it up in 4 minutes or so. Kate wrote the song for her little boy Henry Wonder. It’s depth and beauty is moving, try not to shed a little water.

What a year, 2012!

One Woman Army – by Kate Earl

Never knew what I was signing up for
Knew it was hard but not this hardcore
Never gonna stop, never gonna give up on you
No matter what I do

(Chorus)
Here I am baby, I’m your one woman army
I’d fight for you, I’ll die, I’ll be your protector
Here I am baby, I’m your one woman army
No matter what may come, I won’t surrender

Gonna give you everything I never had
Love you and teach you good from bad
Never gonna stop, never gonna give up on you
No matter what I do

(Chorus)
Here I am baby, I’m your one woman army
I’d fight for you, I’ll die, I’ll be your protector
Here I am baby, I’m your one woman army
No matter what may come, I won’t surrender

What I do, I do for you the best I can
Build a life for you with my own two hands
Never gonna stop, never gonna give up on you
No matter what I do

(Chorus) X3
Here I am baby, I’m your one woman army
I’d fight for you, I’ll die, I’ll be your protector
Here I am baby, I’m your one woman army
No matter what may come, I won’t surrender

Last night’s vows

I have an 8 month young baby. I have an 8 month young baby. Pinch me.

Just last night as I was staring at my little daughter, Alice, and although she is so new to me, it is hard to imagine that her dad and I are all she has ever known. Every new inch, touch and person is just that, new.

Then I thought about my own mom and her little daughter (me), and it pains me to think that Alice will be an independent little lady someday; off to a college far far away (like her mom) and travelling all around the world (yep, I did that to my mom, too).

In conclusion after lots of deep thoughts and a few tears, I vow to cherish every moment as she screams when I walk away, when she grabs my arms and hair so tightly when I sit her down, and as she smiles at me when nursing while she proceeds to bite down on my nipple.. yes, I will cherish them all.

6 months today!

Alice is 6 months today! She loves watching other babies and kids, giggles, blows bubbles, and loves sleeping on her side or tummy. She also enjoys rolling around and playing with our dog Veda.

She is only 6 months, but she already has experienced a lot in such a short period of time. She has been to the ocean, flew on a plane twice, been to a concert, went hiking and has stepped foot in 7 states already!

BUT Most of all it is the people she has met along the way, and will always be a part of her life, that mean the most. So thank you to everyone who has gone out of their way to send love, presents and taken a break to spend time with Alice! Much love!

Smell ya later!

Just as we were saying our goodbyes at the airport, my mom handed Alice to me, and we all noticed the “leave behind” on my mom’s top. Although my mom probably did not appreciate her new air freshener for the ride home, it sure did turn our tears into laughter! So, thank you Alice! N Sorry mom/grandma!

Lake Alice

Growing up in Scandia, MN we lived right near William O’Brien State Park and spent lots of time there when we were little kids. Not only until after having Alice did my sister notice the name of the lake we used swim in at the park is Lake Alice.

The park will always hold special memories for me of my dad, and now there is a even stronger reason, tie, sign or signal (call it what you like) that those memories will continue to live on in the circle of life.

Was she ever this tiny and was J’s hair really that long?

Just looking through some old photos when I should be sleeping.

I have to share these even if I have already:

3 Months

I cannot believe we are already past the 3 month mark… Time has flown by, and every day is a new adventure with a baby. I just wish I had more time to just be with her, but now I just cherish the days I do, even more. I know this sounds super cheesed out, but I’m just being honest.

I also have a new found respect for mom’s in general, especially my sister, my mom and my friends. They make time for me and so many other things on top of taking care of a little one or two.

I’m just figuring out how to balance everything, and I will probably never have it mastered. Whether you leave your baby for a day to work or a night to catch up with a friend, it’s just tough.

So thank u to my mom friends who have taken the time to hang with me or called me back when I needed an ear, and sorry to my friends who I have been neglecting. I’ll get better at it, I just need a little practice!
